Welcome to Cheves Watercolors

Any day that I spend in my studio or painting in the field is a great day.

Raised on the waterfront of the Charleston peninsular, Henry has spent most of his life on and in the creeks, rivers, and marshes of the Lowcountry. In his impressionistic watercolors, he uses mist, fog and rain, so common on the coast, to create a blurred vision of something real and true that is not meant to be completely understood by our rational mind. He seeks to capture and share his experiences and feelings of places which have and continue to shape his life. He also uses his style to reveal the beauty and mystery of the streets and alleys of downtown Charleston in the rain and fog.
